It’s time to share the love again…
Neuroscience research provides evidence that behavior that gets rewarded gets repeated. In this, the season of giving we invite you to share on our wall of acknowledgment. Acknowledgment assists the strengthening of positive neural pathways for both the giver and the receiver.
1. Take a moment to reflect over the past year and post publicly your thanks to a training buddy or a congratulations for an inspiring moment you have witnessed someone go through at the box.
2. Take another moment to acknowledge yourself privately, what have been your top three wins this year in regard to training? Acknowledgment of self is a skill that must be practiced every day to be able to genuinely acknowledge others.
3. Alternatively you might like to go up to that coach, training buddy or partner left at home looking after the kids while you’re at the box and let them know specifically what they do that you really appreciate.
4. Make a commitment to turn up the volume on acknowledgment of self and others in your world in 2014 and enjoy reaping the positive results.
Post your acknowledgments to comments.
The advanced programming that Drummond has been establishing and taking the extra time to put together has helped me discover my weaknesses, become mentally stronger and feel excited about progress and I really appreciate it thank you! Also, the people I train with daily who encourage me; I cant thank you enough, you are all wonderful 🙂
2013 has been one of the sickest years of my life so far, I’ve had tons of fun, mainly due to the crossfit community. Thanks to drum for employing me and giving me the best job ever.
Thanks to all my training buddies/ mates, Timmy, Charlie, Kylie, Luke, Jordan Millie, Cam, Jess, Jouby and tons of others. Cheers to Jerka and old man for giving me some numbers to destroy everyday and keeping me legit.
Also been tons of fun coaching crossfit kids with Kylie.
Thanks to all the coaches, dj, Jules, jess, drum, codi, Adam for trying to make me a better athlete.
And I would like to congratulate Timmy Douglas on his improvements this year, he is a great example of how consistency is one of the most important factors for improvement. He has got muscle up, bar muscle ups, 60kg snatch, lipping pull ups, double unders (kind of) all in a short few months, all he did was practice practice practice, every day.
Have a awsome Christmas, I love you all xoxo

Awesome list, couldn’t agree more.
I’d just like to thank you Drum for always helping me when I needed it. Nearly 4 years ago we met at the Burnie Challenge when you and a crew was up. We talked and you got me so excited to follow my dream to become a CrossFit Affiliate. Since that day, you have always been there to help me when needed.
Thank you so much for guiding me into the best thing I could have done. 3 years affiliated now and love everyday of it.
Thanks bro, much love……
P.s I also use you as my motivation in training. Always trying to beat you lol.
9 things that either made me smile, amazed me or inspired me as well as the 1 thing I did that surprised me in 2013 in “no particular order”.
Razors 300+ unbroken double under’s. It was like watching perpetual motion brother you have that shit under control.
Me for getting 100 double under’s unbroken.
Trex for his get it right or it don’t count attitude to every movement
Drum and Ally for continuing to invest themselfs and their money
in people and property at this amazing place.
Danielle OMG
Dee training in a boot.
Nicho for being Nicho and making everyone smile and feel welcome.
Everyone that came and threw down at the various events we have had this year. If you haven’t done it then you’ve missed out.
The spew bucket, it’s been going over time this year.
The growth in crossfit in Tassie thanks to dedicated bunch of affiliate owners and coaches.
Thats the sweetest thing anyone has ever said about me. Rob you made my eyes rain.
Can’t believe it’s only been 5 months since I started Crossfit and changed from couch potato to yummy mummy!
Cheers to my training buddies Mel M and Kelly – we’ve come a long way since June – and to Brooke and Danielle for being amazing inspirations. If you can do it, I’ve got no excuses for not trying 🙂
Can’t thank all the coaches enough for guidance and motivation, especially Drum. Thanks heaps 🙂
Firstly I’d like to thank my sister Bec for introducing me to C42 and for being a great training buddy ( and for kissing the same boys lol :-D)
I’d like to shout out to a couple of people
Millie – you are looking fabulous keep it up girl 🙂
Lou B – you are doing so well you gave it everything the other day you should be proud.
Danielle – Wow you are a ninja you should be so proud of yourself you are an inspiration. I even did someone’s hair today from colossus who had heard about you 🙂
All coaches – you guys rock thank you for just being awsome 🙂
There are so many people who I could say amazing things about but I’d be here all day. Thank you to everyone I train with you are all awsome and inspiring. And lastly Drum and Ali thank you so much for creating such an amazing place and c42 family I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t go to cf. You are both amazing people and should be proud 🙂
Merry Xmas everyone 🙂
Super fun year, this is mainly thanks to all the great people I get to see and hang out with every day, courtesy of the great crossfit community that we have going.
Thanks to all the people I’ve been training with, giving me the extra encouragement and motivation I’ve needed, especially during all the extra volume from AAB!
Drum, incredible job as always mate, thanks again for all the extra effort you’ve been doing to make the AAB happen, the last few months have made such a difference!
As far as highlights go for me; Butz off events, Christmas party!!, Razor’s fancy music, man-off with charliebear on 13.1, Danielle just dominating everything in general, Nespresso, all the extra sessions we have gotten to do this year (yoga, barbell, physio etc etc), Corkers enthusiasm excitement after some PBs and a billion more that I can’t think of right now.
2013 has been pretty wonderful! I’ve had a career change which resulted in changing up my training times a fair bit, but every session has been great and training with different people is heaps of fun. But especially everyone in the 7am crew-you made transitioning from midday sessions that little bit easier.
This year I’ve achieved a lot more than I thought, and I know I still have so much more to work on, but strict pull ups and strict ring dips can be crossed off the list!
As always, Stephy, you and your daily texts/chats/etc, even if just about the quantity of concrete needed to undertake a wod that day, are so very much appreciated and needed on some hectic days.
The coaches-you’re awesome, keep being the super team you are!
Thanks to everyone who would see me doing my secret squirrel wods/skills and either see that I needed a “there, there” or more than likely just needed to be left to myself to fight through it.
Feb 18th “Partner Lumberjack 20” wod on the hottest day ever followed by a much needed chill at the beach with the cool kids-good times!
Jess becoming an arm wrestling champ! 😉
The Firefighter Frank Fundraiser wod/Murdunna bush fire clean up!
The annual regionals trip! There’s always a few more of us heading up every year, hopefully even more next year-I’m sure Danielle will love the support! 😉
Another successful Rowvember! Boom!
Getting out of late burpees because I had coffee for the coaches!
Drum’s vendetta against the “Extra wrapper” always left after the morning sessions.
My excitement quickly being replaced by dismay upon the arrival of the Ski Erg. “Tan, you look like a cat stuck in a Coles bag…”
The awesome extras-yoga, goal setting, gymnastics, crossfit kids, advanced blog, comps/challenges/friday night hit outs, etc. So much work is put into all of these things, and it is most definitely very much appreciated.
All the Sunday Sesh adventures, Gordy’s birthday weekend, Aon puns, Terminator thumbs ups, Razor’s soup nazi mustache, Kylie’s switched bunny dilemma, my free Outlaw shirt (classic Gordan), the 7am Barbell “pick on Tan” sessions, Codi being Codi, Jimmy and Luna (the cutest puppy in the world), being Razor’s favourite Russian orphan, Kylie’s hate/hate relationship with rowing, Luke always looking after me, my Dora chalk container, Augusto brekkies, the yummiest clean and jerk(y), and soooo much more I’d be here for days if I tried to mention everything and I feel this is already far too big (that’s what she said 😉
And, of course, Drummond and Allison. You both are too amazing for words, but here’s some anyway. You’ve created something wonderful down here in Tas, and I love how the CrossFit community has grown from where it began just a few short years ago. As much as we might miss the old boxes at times (except the climbing edge stair runs…!), our new home and ever growing crossfit family is the best one yet! Thank you for letting me hang out with your beautiful girls, also. I always have the best of times with them, even just watching Nemo or The Smurfs. =)
Hope everyone has some enjoyable holiday times and I’ll see you all around next year! #hashtagemoticonsmileyface
2013 on a personal level has been one of the most challenging in my life. 2013 has provided me with two constant positives the first is my wonderful children without them my days are forever long, the second is the Box this place is my escape from everything else that is going on in my world, it’s always there and it’s the same every time I need it. It places me into a comfort zone while the WODS take me out of my comfort zone at the same time.
When I say ‘the Box’ I need to explain just what that means to me, it includes all the exceptional athletes that go there old and new, I need to be around people that continue to push themselves physically and mentally every time they are there, this creates for me an environment of continual improvement, this positive flow is in everyone that consistently trains, ‘the Box’ environment celebrates achievements and progress despite how small, this is what motivates and develops me in fitness. Thanks to all I have trained with over the past year.
The Box includes the quality coaches that provide guidance and feedback to every athlete with a smile and in a way that is easily transposed into the next series of movements, this to me is pure gold. Plus you all laugh at my bad jokes even when you don’t have to. Thanks to all the Coaches for your motivation, strictness on form , and easy approachable personas that you all possess.
Now, the main feature of ‘the Box’ is this anything but ordinary Head Coach Drummond, mate you listened to me talk about my problems early on in the year and you helped me in a huge way that offset your own commitments this cemented in me the ongoing support you provide to each individual athlete that you coach, for that I am forever grateful and humbled by your support. Plus that little bit of encouragement that you quietly said to me once ‘get that anger out’ helped me so much. Thanks mate.
Some highlights for me: there are simply too many to list
Throwdown at the DEC = lots of individual efforts in here
Friday night hit-outs = as above
The AAB = dedicated programming and coaching with some impressive athletes in the mix
Codes = Mate, you have some slick moves, Olympic Lifting that is. Thanks for your tips.
Laura = I like that you have this ability to ‘flick the switch’ when you need to
‘Rob’ = you know who you are, always makes for a good training session
Bove and Dancey = I drink out of your water bottle, when you’re both not looking
0600 crew = warm up specialists
0600 girls = stronger and faster, in fact all the girls are pushing the boys comparing lifts to bodyweight ratios
Josh P = Not bad for a Rupert
Joey = the big roo, nailing wods one at a time
Merit award from Drummond and the coaches = thanks guys that made my training year.
Dannielle and Bec completing that AAB Wod Kettlebell with Overhead Oly bar walk = motivational plus
Max, Jerka, Cam, Mick = you guys just get the job done, no fuss, no problems.
My nemeses (yes, there is more than one) Thanks for keeping me motivated and hungry for improvement each and every time I train with you or against the times/weights on the whiteboard
Everyone that ‘no repped’ me, I love you too for pulling me up and keeping me legit
Lowlights:
Whoever drank water out of the paper coffee cup, you owe the class some burpees
Whoever craps in the shower toilet before I go to have a shower, why do you do this to me?
Luca the ‘Young bull’ having to stop training because of edumacation, I left school at 15 no worries. maybe times have changed?
Injuries = I hate you.
Most recently the assault bike = you made me go through all of life’s emotions in just 15 Calories.
Just a quick shout out to all the boys and girls I’ve had the pleasure of training with this year, I’ve had an absolute ball. Highlights for me would have to be the Out of Town Showdown and the team comp at the DEC, really enjoy the competitions. Massive thankyou obviously to Drum as always, as well as DJ, Scotty, Joubes, Jordy, Nicho and everyone else that I’ve consistently trained with, it’s been awesome hanging out with you guys. Big shout out to Max, mate you’re really starting to kill it.
I have not been at the box much this year, it’s been such an off and on again year with crossfit for me.
But every time I do come back, it’s obvious that I’ve been putting in the hard yards at the pub and pie shop, and my pink RX rope has not made me the beast that I had planed that I would become the end of 2013.
I did Achieve one of my Crossfit goals of the year, get my name on the girls board, it was at CFL, but I guess you have to take what you can get, Razor you should listen to this advice?
I’m now living in Launie and have 3 Box’s to train at, Crossfit has grown in the last year, and it’s all thanks the Godfather of Tasie Crossfit, DW!
Thanks mate for all that you have done for this wicked community!
2014 will bring it’s own opportunity’s and I hope that I can make it a better year for me, but there is one thing that I know will still be there, the CF community, so thanks for being awesome kids 🙂
AW
Thank you CF42s…
I am thankful for the support from our strong Tasmanian community and I am honoured to live among such genuine people. This is manifested three fold in our own Tasmanian CrossFit community. To the affiliates of the Tasmanian CrossFit community – you guys lead the way and I’m proud to stand with you.
I am quietly inspired by those athletes who fight to be just a little bit better every day even though they face the challenges and adversities that life often throws at us. Athletes such as Indi who has no feeling at all below her knee but still battles through each WOD without a complaint. Terry, who regularly leads from the front with fierce determination even though he is currently fighting significant health issues. These athletes although within their rights use no excuse and never complain – they just quietly get the job done.
I’m also inspired by the Mum’s and Dad’s who find time in their days to train. It is no small feat to make this space – you have my complete respect.
The self-discipline displayed by our younger athletes such as Codes and Laura in their respective sports is well beyond that of their years and it is an honour to share their journey.
It’s these daily displays of human spirit that motivate me to be my best and make coaching a pure joy.
I would like to thank Jess, Jules, Adam, Chops, Razor, DJ, Kylie and Codes for their amazing coaching this year. Without these guys CF42s is just a shed. These guys regularly go above and beyond – I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your efforts.
Thank you also to those athletes who continue to be the glue. Bove, Jak, Tan, Nicho, Jason , Corkers (to name are few), are always there to help and exhibit all that CrossFit is about.
Above all, thank you to my wife Alli and my beautiful lady bugs Ruby and Poppy – I can’t imagine a life without my girls.
It’s fair to say the last three years have been very “busy” and 2013 has been no exception. The birth of our second daughter Poppy and the continue growth of CF42s have kept us on our toes. It has been both challenging and extremely rewarding.
My resolution for 2014 is to cultivate more space in my day and be less “busy”.
Thank you CF42s, I can’t wait to share 2014 with you.
Drum
The past couple of months have been truly amazing. Starting crossfit in May has truly changed and saved my life. Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me, encouraged me, guided me and taught me everything that I know, and am excited to continue to do so in every way. Every single member of cf42s should be proud of themselves for everything that they have achieved within the box. There are too many people to name and say thankyou to; I have respect for so many people. Thank you for the laughs and the tears, and I can’t wait to share 2014 with you all.
This year I am thankful for those who have supported us both personally and professionally.
Juggling two kids (as well as Williamson admin and background CF42s stuff) I have really relied on my mum. She has always been on hand and often done sleep overs to allow me the simple freedom of leaving the house to go for an early morning solo run (which if you have ever tried to wrangle two little people to get out of the house you will know is such an amazing opportunity).
I would also like to thank our trainers. You provide vital time for Drum to be away from the box which allows him time to sleep and eat as well as support me at home with the girls.
To our new clients (most of whom I have never met) I thank you for the new energy you bring to CF42s and giving this CrossFit thing a crack. To our older clients I thank you for holding steadfast as we went through such a massive year of growth and change and for leading by example with the newer clients so that the “flavor” of CF42s has been maintained.
To Drum I thank you for your vision, drive and focus when it comes to all things CF42s. Now, with two kids in he mix we don’t always get time to talk out all our business decisions but I trust you whole-heartedly and you have continued to get it right.
During 2014 I’ll still be around in the background much like this year. I will offer two goal setting workshops and two gyms skills sessions. Next year is Ruby’s last year before she goes to school so my intention is to “un-busy” myself and be more present with both her and Poppy as well spend more time with Drum.
Other than those specific actions mentioned above. I have chosen words I plan to be in 2014: Domestically humming, light, playful, well rested, efficient and relaxed.
Happy New Year from Alli x
At the beginning of the year, I was unmotivated. However, since I started crossfit, I am fitter and emotionally and physically stronger.
I would like to thank all the coaches and my training partners for their encouragement, and for pushing me to achieve what I thought would be impossible (and putting up with my complaints, rants etc) . Special mention to Drum for giving me a new nickname ”Asian Usher. ” I must admit, it is rather catchy.
Happy new year, everybody!
2013 – what an amazing year!. I have so much to be thankful for, primarily my beautiful daughter Lucy and the crossfit 42s community. Physically it has been one of the most challenging years of my life – topping the scales at my heaviest ever to now being in the best shape since I was a gymnast some 17years ago!. Words can’t express how much I want to say thank you to everyone at the box that supported me – instead of judging- as I continued to train throughout my pregnancy, and most of all to Drum for having the faith to let me continue!. I don’t think I even realised how much you were putting yrself out there until one day when another gym owner commented that he wouldn’t of had me in training past 6months!.
Thanks to all the amazing girls that gave me so much encouragement when I returned especially Kylie, Jak and Brooke, always love training with u guys!.
Highlights for this year for me were watching Linds in final WOD of the hit out, competing as part of an awesome team at the DEC (Matt, Millie an Phantom – u guys rock!), Kylies final WOD at the DEC team comp (that’s what crossfit comps are all about right there!), the throw down, and loved Razors Hero WOD programming!.
I know it’s been said but Drum you have literally changed my life- I am enjoying the advanced program soooo much, and you have given me the opportunity to know what it’s liked to be coached again!. Thanks to all the other coaches as well yr comments/ feedback is always greatly appreciated. And finally to all the people who have offered so many positive and quite humbling comments to me throughout the year – thank you so much!. So excited for 2014! 🙂
I’m pretty new to Crossfit so I don’t know many of you, but the last 2 months has been pretty amazing (according to my physio, doctor and myself).
I haven’t been able/brave enough to exercise since my accident, and the adjustment back to exercise has been nothing short of brilliant given the kindness and support of Drummond and the entire CF42S mob.
To my superfriends Jane and Em H, to Jess J, Nathan, Mel, Dan, and all the other lovely people I’ve met in such a short time, and to all the trainers, thank you. You’ve all made the nerve-wracking tentative steps into a new stage of my post-injury life a lot of fun.
Thanks for not laughing too hard when the box jumps fail big-time, or I trip over myself while doing simple tasks (like walking down the driveway).
Here’s to a wonderful 2014 for you all.
Thanks again, you’re brilliant.
Indi
