Congratulations to Anna Smee for taking 1st Place for the women and Max Mooney who placed 2nd for the Men in the “Clash on the Coast” on Saturday.

120 athletes battled it out in hot and sticky conditions in a day of fantastic community spirit and challenging workouts.
WOD One:
Perform as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes of:
30 Jump Squats
Run 280m Obstacle Course

This workout involved running an undulating course with five ‘hurdles’ spread out over a fairly steep ascent.

WOD Two:
Max. Ground to Overhead lift/Perform as many rounds as possible in 10 minutes of:
5 Burpees
15 Sumo Deadlift High Pull 24kg (16kg)

In this workout athletes had the opportunity to perform their best ground to overhead lift within the 10 minute time frame of the AMRAP. The score for this workout was the total of the number of reps peformed in the AMRAP with the best ground to overhead lift added in points to their score. For example if you perfomed a 100kg Clean & Jerk, 100 points was added to your AMRAP score. Athletes could have as many attempts at the ground to overhead lift as they chose.

Run 150m 10kg (6kg)

This workout involved a steep 150m ascent carrying a medicine ball.

Final:
The final workout was an elimination style event that started with the top 10 females and top 10 males. 10 people started the final by running the WOD 1 course, with the first 8 people to finish moving on to 40 Kettlebell Swings 24kg (16kg). The first 6 people to finish the Kettlebell Swings moved onto 30 Push-ups with hand release and the first 4 people to finish the push-ups moved onto 20 Front Squats 40kg (30kg).  Finally the first 2 people to finish the Front Squats battled out for the win by re-running the WOD 1 course again.  There was no rest between movements.

Thankyou to Chris and Marie of Coastal CrossFit for hosting Anna and I and organising such a fantastic day.
